چکیده

Interactions between people are the basis on which the structure of our society arises as a complex system and, at the same time, are the starting point of any physical description of it. In the last few years, much theoretical research has addressed this issue by combining the physics of complex networks with a description of interactions in terms of evolutionary game theory. We here take this research a step further by introducing a most salient societal factor such as the individuals’ preferences, a characteristic that is key to understanding much of the social phenomenology these days. We consider a heterogeneous, agent-based model in which agents interact strategically with their neighbors, but their preferences and payos for the possible actions dier. We study how such a heterogeneous network behaves under evolutionary dynamics and dierent strategic interactions, namely coordination games and best shot games. With this model we study the emergence of the equilibria predicted analytically in random graphs under best response dynamics, and we M Mazzoli and A Sánchez Equilibria, information and frustration in heterogeneous network games with conflicting preferences Printed in the UK 113403 JSMTC6 © 2017 IOP Publishing Ltd and SISSA Medialab srl 2017 J. Heterogeneous network games: Conflicting preferences

In many economic situations, a player pursues coordination or anti-coordination with her neighbors on a network, but she also has intrinsic preferences among the available options. We here introduce a model which allows to analyze this issue by means of a simple framework in which players endowed with an idiosyncratic identity interact on a social network through strategic complements or substi...

Bayesian Games with Intentions

We show that standard Bayesian games cannot represent the full spectrum of belief-dependent preferences. However, by introducing a fundamental distinction between intended and actual strategies, we remove this limitation. We define Bayesian games with intentions, generalizing both Bayesian games and psychological games [5], and prove that Nash equilibria in psychological games correspond to a s...

Capacitated Caching Games

Capacitated Caching (CC) Games are motivated by P2P and web caching applications, and involve nodeson a network making strategic choices regarding the content to replicate in their caches. Caching gameswere introduced by Chun et al [6], who analyzed the uncapacitated case leaving the capacitated version asan open direction. In this work, we study pure Nash equilibria of both frac...

Time-Preference Heterogeneity and Multiplicity of Equilibria in Two-Group Bargaining

We consider a multilateral bargaining game in which the agents can be classified into two groups according to their instantaneous preferences. In one of these groups there is one agent with a different discount factor. We analyze how this time-preference heterogeneity may generate multiplicity of equilibria. When such an agent is sufficiently more patient than the rest, there is an equilibrium ...

Evolutionary stability and lexicographic preferences

We explore the interaction between evolutionary stability and lexicographic preferences. To do so, we define a limit Nash equilibrium for a lexicographic game as the limit of Nash equilibria of nearby games with continuous preferences. Nash equilibria of lexicographic games are limit Nash equilibria, but not conversely. Modified evolutionarily stable strategies (Binmore and Samuelson, 1992. J. ...
